Now let’s take a look at some pictures.
Here we see the TVBox HD HDMI Edition in it’s retail packaging. The box is full of features and specs right up in front so you can see what your looking for with ease.
On the back of the box you get tons of information about the unit. As well as a nice diagram of how the unit is hooked up to your computer. This is nice so you can tell just from the box if you have the right hook up for the job.
The first thing you see when you open up the box is the remote control for the TVBox. Along with that is the manual for the system as well as the TVBox under the manual.
The manual for the system isn’t very thick. It is very detailed and very easy to follow the instructions on how to setup your TVBox HD.
Of course what would a TV be without a remote!
Here we see the TVBox HD, It’s a awesome gun metal gray color. The unit it self doesn’t feel cheap or light like nothing is in the box. In the front of the unit is a USB port for you to hook up a mp3 player or flash drive to turn it into a digital photo frame.
On one side of the TVBox you have your HD video connections along with the standard left and right audio inputs. These inputs are used for people who have HD service from the cable or sat company and want to run the digital box into the TVBox unit for more HD and SD channels.
On the other side of the TVBox you have some basic controls. The power button, input selection, channel up & down and volume up & down. These buttons are very ease to you and push. They don’t feel stiff or cheap at all, plus they look great!
On the back side of the unit is where all the main hook up for the pc and your monitor happen. The first port is a DVI connection to your video card. This is where you will use the DVI to DVI cable that is included with the kit to hook up from the box to your video card. The next port is where you will plug your monitor cable into. Now if you don’t have DVI out on your monitor don’t worry they give you a DVI to VGA adapter in the box. Next to that is the audio in and out. Next is the cable into if your not going to run HD hooks up or just want to hook up standard cable channels and or box. This is also the port for the antenna to pick up over the air HD channels. Of course on the very end is the DC power input.
You get a TON of cables and adapters with the TVBox kit, That is totally awesome for Kworld to do because for the price of the whole kit adding all these cables and adapter is really a treat for the consumer. This is the first cable you get in the box it’s a DVI to DVI cable. This is used to go from the TVBox to your video card on your pc.
Next is a DVI to HDMI cable. This cable would be used to go from your monitor’s HDMI out to the DVI in on the TVBox unit, or if you want to run your video card of your PC out to a HDTV HDMI input that would work as well. Nothing really to do with the TVBox unit but awesome to have the cable to do that.
Here we see the audio cables for the back of the TVBox system. This cable will run from the out put of the TVBox system into your sound card. Now if your sound card has a front and rear channel you could run your PC sound into the front channel and the tv audio into the rear channel. If your not rocking the 5.1 setup you would run this cable from the out put of the TVBox system into the LINE IN on your sound card to get the sound from the over the air stations or from your standard RCA audio inputs. Be sure if your running it into your LINE IN of your sound card that you have the volume set correctly and that the LINE IN port on your sound isn’t muted. This will cut down on those pesky customer support phone calls.
The kit even comes with batteries! I remember a time when electronics and toys didn’t come with batteries it seems that times have changed because everything seems to come with batteries now. That is sweet.
This is one of the many adapters you get with the TVBox system. This is a DVI to VGA adapter for those of you without DVI out on your monitors.
This is a DVI to HDMI adapter. You would plug this adapter into the back of the TVBox monitor port and then run a HDMI cable from your monitor into the back of this adapter.
This is a DVI to VGA adapter but reverse. Kind of interesting.
This is the power adapter for the unit. We all know what this does.
This is something really awesome. A LOT of these HD kits that allow you to use your monitor as a TV don’t included the antenna in the kit it self! They will charge you a extra $30 bucks for the antenna. So add up all the adapters, cables and the antenna you get with the system and the $79.99 price tag is really a steal for this setup.
When I first got the TVBox from Kworld and read what it did, I have to be honest my first thought was this is going to suck. I have tested a few other products like this not HD ones but SD ones and they didn’t work as they were suppose to or the picture quality was just horrible. Hooking up the TVBox was really simple! I didn’t even need to look at the manual. Once you get everything hooked up to your computer and monitor you can power on the system by pushing the power button on the remote or on top of the unit. I did find it easier to use the system with the remote.
Once you get the system on it will switch you over to the TVBox and you get the installation screen. The system will ask you a few simple questions and also what type of connections your running. Over the air or cable. Once your done it will give you a finish screen. Which looks something like this.
Now I will tell you that once the it was setup and I was running it off of over the air HD signals, the picture was 100% AMAZING! 1080i in all it’s glory! My jaw dropped to the floor when I saw the picture quality that the TVBox from Kworld. I took a few pictures with my camera and it doesn’t do ANY justice for the quality the TVBox was giving me.
Doesn’t it just look AMAZING? I’m kind of hungry now though…
Ahh House. Love that show :) Love it better in 1080i HD!
Now one of the things I had to figure out was how do I switch back and forth from the TVBox to my desktop! The remote has a little button on the top of it that looks like a monitor. You press it to go back to your desktop and again to go back to your TVBox. It works perfect and also is VERY fast in the switching.
Now I couldn’t take a picture to show you the switching, So I made a video instead to show you.
As you can see it’s VERY fast and does it so smoothly. The TVBox HD from Kworld is simply the best package you can get for turning your monitor into a HD TV.
The TVBox from Kworld is one of the nicest systems I have tested today. It comes with all the right adapters and cables you could possible need to make this system work with your setup. The quality of the build is top notch and the ease of use is simple one of the best I have seen. I had my doubts about the quality of picture this system could provide me but soon after getting the TVBox HD setup and running, I was dead wrong and my jaw hit the floor with the amazing picture quality that this box was giving me on my LCD monitor. If your a college student this system would 150% ideal for that environment because of space issues. If you’re looking for a HD system for your computer or small work space then look no further then the Kworld TVBox HD system.
We want to the thank the awesome people from Kworld for sending us this unit for review.
We give this product our “Editors Choice” award.
