KWorld M120 Home Media Center

20110128
The average person easily consumes a ton of videos, audio files and the like every day on the PC. So what happens when the user would like to enjoy their content on a bigger screen or a projector without having to lug around their devices or have to go through a complicated connection just to watch something on the tube via their PC. KWorld has been one of the leaders when it comes to media centers over the last few years and you know what they say, never change something on an already perfect design. KWorld seems to be running on this formula when they recently put their new KWorld M120 Home Media Center on the market.

Fundamentally, the M120 is similar to its predecessor, the M200, which also shares the same design to an extent, is a home media player to hook up to your TV to enjoy your media without needing a large, expensive and clunky home media player that traditionally adorned TVs for many years. Rather affordable and featuring a modest amount of interfaces, including VGA, HDMI, AV and YpbPr.

Of course, it also supports a slew of the usual playback formats that are generally used by joe average, namely WMV9/VC1/M2TS/MKV/AVI/DAT/MPG/MPEG/RM and RMVB, so its rather unlikely you'll have some media file that the player cannot manage.

The unit has a few buttons up top to navigate the interface, though they're a wee bit too plasticky for our tastes. The Component and audio ports are to the left of the M120 while everything else save the SD/MMC slot and USB port are out back. Installation is pretty much plug and play so its more or less foolproof when it comes to getting it running. Sadly, there's no network support and only one USB port, so if you want to show off your vacation videos from your home NAS, you're likely going to have to use portable storage.

Navigating the user interface with the included remote is pretty simple and the remote's buttons are planned and spaced out well with all the necessary shortcuts. The interface itself isn't overly complicated, so with a bit of trial and error you'll get your settings up in no time.

Its affordable, straightforward and easy to use, the KWorld M120 has the makes of a pretty decent Home Media Center that's great for almost anything you'd like to pipe over to your living room screen without having to go through complicated intermediaries for your content.
